Northern Territory

Famous for crocodiles and waterfalls, The Top End of Australia offers beauty like nowhere else. Don’t be fooled, the treasures of the Top End are not exactly in close proximity to one another, the Northern Territory is a very big place so allow time for these adventures!

Five bucket list experiences in the Top End to make your Australian adventure complete:

1. Get in the tank with a crocodile at Crocosaurus Cove
Before you think we’ve completely fried our brains, we know how crazy getting
in the tank with a crocodile sounds. But at Crocosaurus Cove you can cage dive
with some of the biggest crocs in the world. When you get a shot like this, why
wouldn’t you?

2. Chase waterfalls in Kakadu National Park
Kakadu National Park is a dream land filled with waterfalls, hikes and amazing
views. Definitely worth trying not to be too hungover for. Or you could just
cure your hangover with a dip. Looking at a map, Kakadu may seem like a short
drive, but you really need to remember the size of the Northern Territory!
Trade boring nights in Darwin accommodation for a 3 Day Kakadu and
Litchfield Camping Tour, allowing you extra chill time in rock pools overlooking
natural landscapes, with all food and a guide included. You won’t regret it!

3. Escape the heat in Litchfield National Park
It’s no surprise that the Northern Territory is a place that is too hot to handle,
especially for those used to a cooler, significantly less sticky climate. This is
where Litchfield National Park is a lifesaver. Litchfield is an oasis filled with
(crocodile-free!) waterfalls, plunge pools, rivers and creeks.

4. Feast til you’re full at the Mindil Sunset Markets
Every Thursday and Sunday sunset brings about the Mindil Sunset Markets.
With tonnes of food stalls from a range of cuisines, unique craft vendors and a
picturesque sunset, what else could you want from a market? Oh and its BYO
beverage, just when you thought it couldn’t get better.

5. Relax in the Mataranka Thermal Pools
That incredibly long stretch from Darwin to Uluru is not barren emptiness, no.
Somewhere between those many miles is the crystal blue, soothing waters of
Mataranka Thermal Pools. A lush natural pool oasis settled among paperbark
trees in true Aussie outback serenity.
